Before arriving at Peerage, Mike was the COO at Aston Hill Financial, and also previously served as the Executive VP at Davis + Henderson; Executive VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at CI Financial Corp.; and as an Associate at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Deirdre McMurdy joined Peerage Capital as Vice-President, Corporate and Partner Communications, in 2019. Her work, which touches on both internal and external aspects of the organization’s business, reflects her wide-ranging experience within the communications field. Prior to joining Peerage, she was a Principal in the country’s leading strategic communications firm, working across Canada and around the world with individuals and firms in directing responses to a variety of scenarios. In this role, she frequently supported CEOs and senior management teams in the financial services sector on a range of complex transactions.
Deirdre has previously worked as a special adviser to a senior Cabinet minister in the Government of Canada, and as a senior executive at a leading public policy research institute. Before that, she was a familiar face in Canadian journalism, working variously as business editor and host at two national television networks, business editor and columnist at Maclean’s magazine as well as a reporter and columnist at the Globe and Mail. She graduated with honours from Trinity College at the University of Toronto. Deirdre is married and is the overbearing mother of two children, an anxious but affable rescue dog, and two willful rescue cats from the country’s far north.

The foundation for his skill set was gained in his six years supporting the Partners of Blair Franklin in their M&A advisory services business. At Blair Franklin, Sandy gained significant experience in public and private M&A, fairness opinions, valuations, and project finance advisory mandates. Following his tenure at Blair Franklin, Sandy held two senior corporate development roles in the waste management sector: first with TSX and NYSE-listed Progressive Waste Solutions, leading to its eventual sale to Waste Connections; and most recently with private-equity backed GFL Environmental.
